Ethereum champ ConsenSys announced on Wednesday a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver Kaleido, a new blockchain business cloud. Kaleido will feature the popular Ethereum packages Geth and Quorum and is designed to simplify adoption and implementation of blockchain technology. Additional capabilities include consensus mechanisms, integrated analytics, and a bridge between private blockchains and the Ethereum mainnet, as well as other protocol options.

“If blockchain doesn’t become dramatically easier to use, then companies will have to walk back their investments and our society will be far too slow in realizing blockchain’s significant promise,” stated Kaleido Founder Steve Cerveny. “We designed the Kaleido platform from scratch with new user experiences and tools to radically simplify the entire enterprise journey. This all-in-one Blockchain Business Cloud changes the economic equation of an enterprise blockchain project. By offering a full solution way beyond do-it-yourself scripts or templates, Kaleido significantly speeds up development and deployment cycles and dramatically lowers operating costs. What Salesforce did for CRMs, Kaleido will do for blockchain.”

Kaleido takes a unique approach to integrating the security of the public Ethereum blockchain to enterprises running private chains on the platform. Using Kaleido Relay, private chain data is ‘anchored’ to the public blockchain, creating a proof of an action or decision on a private chain while eliminating the risk that a private chain could be manipulated after the fact to reflect a different value. Especially in applications where multiple parties, like various logistics companies, must trust a single, unique and often private blockchain for their operational needs, Kaleido nullifies counterparty risk arising from unauthorized changes in the recorded data.

“We are thrilled to see innovative new services being built by ConsenSys within this emerging space,” stated GM and Global Lead, Software Partnerships at AWS Joshua Hofmann. “Kaleido is making blockchain more accessible and easier to use for our customers and even faster to securely connect their blockchain solutions to the rest of AWS’s fleet of services. This creates a frictionless experience and streamlines integration with additional AWS services that our customers often leverage when deploying Blockchain solutions.”
